UAB Medical West Hospital

UAB Medical West has proudly served the communities of West Jefferson County since 1964. As an acute care hospital with 12 health centers located throughout its market, including Bessemer, Hueytown, Vance, Tannehill, and Hoover, UAB Medical West offers a wide range of diagnostic, surgical, medical, and emergency services. These services include intensive care, women’s health, telemetry, geriatric psychiatry, inpatient rehabilitation, sleep medicine, cardiac rehabilitation, and advanced wound care. UAB Medical West has over 1,300 employees and more than 300 physicians on its medical staff.

In 2015, UAB Medical West became home to the state’s first Freestanding Emergency Department (FED) off Interstate 459 at Exit 10 in Hoover. The FED and the hospital’s main campus emergency department see more than 75,000 visits annually.
