U.S. Treasury Building
Build-to-suit developer turnkey project meets GSA standards for federal tenant
KPS Group was the architect on the developer team selected for this 86,000sf leaseback build-to-suit project for the U.S. General Services Administration. Constructed on a 3.9-acre brownfield site in Birmingham’s central business district, it balances a civic presence with a high level of security for its U.S. Treasury tenant. Designed to be compatible with the adjacent Social Security building, glazing was incorporated between the building’s cost efficient tilt-wall panels to create a feeling of transparency. Building dimensions maximize space planning efficiency and flexibility while optimizing daylight within the space. It includes both open and private office space, training rooms, canteen and lounges, a fitness center, and warehouse space; and conforms to federal site security and blast resistance standards. Tenant improvement and FF&E services were included.
