Marsh | Rickard | Bryan Law Firm
Weaving Historic Character with Contemporary Professionalism
This project delivered the comprehensive interior fit-out of a vacant shell at 2222 Arlington, transforming the space into a functional and inspiring corporate headquarters for prominent Birmingham law firm, Marsh Rickard Bryan. Our challenge was to breathe new life into the historic setting, creating an environment that supports employee well-being and reinforces the firm’s professional ethos.
The design strategy was built on an interplay of old and new. Respectful of the building’s inherent character, we established a foundation of traditional elements—rich wood tones, classic furniture, and striking hardwood floors—to ground the space in its legacy. This foundation contrasts with contemporary aesthetics, including exposed ceilings, black metal accents, and an infusion of natural light.
The functional layout prioritized collaboration and community through an open floor plan, complemented by strategically designed breakout areas for individual focus and deeper human connection. The reception area includes a striking stone backdrop and a warm, wood-toned desk, immediately signaling professionalism and welcome. Throughout the space, generous windows ensure abundant natural light. Additionally, meeting rooms are leveraged for transparency while incorporating integrated high-performance soundproofing for essential privacy. The inclusion of locally sourced art pieces reinforces the firm’s connection to the Birmingham community.
By successfully integrating these traditional and modern design elements, the completed interior fit-out translates the law firm’s brand into a tangible, welcoming, and productive environment. The project delivers a refined, timeless space that elevates the client experience and cultivates a modern work culture.
